Persian, Himalayan and Exotic Shorthair Eye Color!!  Blue, Copper or Green!

 

One of the most common questions I am asked as a Persian, Himalayan and Exotic Shorthair cat breeder are what color eyes will the kitten have?

Our kittens are born with blue eyes.. as they begin to develop their adult eye color will start to appear.  Some Persians and Exotic Shorthairs will have copper eyes, some will have green eyes, and in come cases they will be odd eyed.  An odd eyed Persian or Exotic Shorthair will have one copper eye and one blue eye.  Some breeders will breed with this in mind.

Himalayans will be born with blue eyes and their eyes will stay blue.

Persians, Himalayan and Exotic Shorthair cats are considered a brachycephalic breed.  This means their faces are flat and flat faced cats and dogs will have a slower blink reflex.

Copper eyed cats as well as blue eyed cats eye color can vary in the shade.  Some Persians and Exotic Shorthair will have a deeper color of copper eye than others. The same thing goes with the blue, some will be a lighter blue, some darker and some will almost appear a shade of purple.
