FAQ and other Important Information
Are you a Registered Cat Breeder?
Yes! We are a CFA Registered Persian, Himalayan & Exotic Shorthair Cattery. CFA (Cat Fancier's Association) is the largest cat registry. We abide by the Breeder Code of Ethics as put forth by the Cat Fancier's Association.
Do you offer Stud Service?
No. We are a closed cattery and we do not offer stud services. This is an old practice and is not commonly offered in today’s world.
Do you allow visits to kittens?
Yes, we do allow visits to our kittens and encourage it. However, we ask that you do not visit another cattery in the same day and then come to our home. Many breeders ask this, it is to prevent spread of possible infections and viruses. Our cattery is in our home and our cats and kittens are part of the family. We will ask that the visits to our Persian, Himalayan & Exotic Shorthair kittens are limited to 30 minutes for the safety and well being of our kittens.
Do you sell breeding rights?
The rights to breed are not sold with a kitten. Our contract requires that all kittens that are adopted are spayed or neutered within a designated time-frame.
What type of grooming is required on a Persian, Himalayan or Exotic Shorthair Cat?
Persians, Himalayan and Exotic Shorthair cats need to be brushed to avoid mats. We recommend a metal comb and a slicker brush. Cats need their nails clipped on a regular basis.
At what age do you release your kittens?
We do not release our kittens before 12 weeks of age. We feel it is vital that kittens stay with their mother so they can develop socially. Taking a kitten from their Mom too soon has a negative effect on the kitten and their development.
Do you vaccinate your kittens?
Yes! We vaccinate our kittens at 8 and 12 weeks of age. Our kittens are also age appropriately dewormed.
Do you offer a health guarantee?
Yes! We offer a two year written health guarantee against life threatening congenital defects.
Do your kittens see a veterinarian?
Yes! ALL of our kittens are examined and cleared by our veterinarian at 4 weeks of age. NO kitten shall be reserved before it is examined and cleared by our veterinarian. Once a kitten has been examined and cleared by our veterinarian, we will then reach out to those adopting families on our deposited reservation wait list.
Do you have a wait list for adopting a Persian, Himalayan or Exotic Shorthair kitten?
Yes, most of the time we have a wait list, inquire for complete details on how to adopt a Persian, Himalayan or Exotic Shorthair kitten from us.
Why do you breed?
We breed our cats with the intent of improving the breed and to produce happy, healthy kittens. We deal honestly with the adopters of our cats and kittens.
Do you DNA test your cats?
Yes, absolutely. We DNA test all of our adults. Our DNA testing is completed by Wisdom Panel. Wisdom Panel is the World's leading DNA testing service. DNA testing is done by taking a painless swab on the inside of the cheek. Wisdom panel tests for over 40 genetic health conditions, blood typing as well as traits and genetic diversity. We are a DNA tested PRA negative cattery. PRA is Progressive Retinal Atrophy and is a degenerative disease that affects the photoreceptor cells. With PRA, the cells deteriorate over time and eventually lead to blindness in cats. Atrophy is the partial or complete wasting or deterioration of a body part.
Do you ship your cats?
Persians and Himalayans are considered a brachycephalic breed, meaning they are flat-faced. Brachycephalic breeds are not able to be shipped via Air Cargo and must be accompanied on the airplane by their human pet nanny or new adoptive family member. We can deliver your kitten to you and meet you at the nearest major airport.
Do you have a contract?
Yes. We require you to sign a contract which specifically spells out what our health guarantee offers and what we expect from you.
